The Mahaska County Conservation Board is offering summer day camps for kids beginning in June.

Please sign up for the camps by contacting MCCB at 641-673-9327 or email decook@mahaskacountyia.gov. Each camp is $10 per day and payment is due the day of camp. Contact MCCB for more information.

The Knee-High Naturalist Camp “Let’s Go Outdoors!” will be June 7-9 from 10 a.m. to noon each day. Tuesday, June 7 is “Let’s Go Camping” and will take place at a campsite at the ELC. Wednesday, June 8 is “Let’s Go Fishing” and will include fishing near Russell Wildlife area. Equipment will be provided. Thursday, June 9 is “Let’s Go on a Bug Hunt” and will include insect activities and a hike at the ELC. These events are for ages five and younger.

The Jr. Naturalist Camp “Explore Mahaska County” will be June 21-23 from 9 a.m. to noon each day at various county parks. Tuesday, June 21 is “Fishing Adventures” at Russell Wildlife Area. Wednesday, June 22 is “Great Fossil Hunt” at Russell Wildlife Area. Thursday, June 23 is “Hiking Adventures” at Cedar Bluffs State Preserve. These events are for ages 6-10.

The Challenge Camp “Ultimate Outdoor Adventures will be June 28-30 from 9 a.m. to noon each day at various county parks. Tuesday, June 28 is “Disc Golf” at the ELC. Wednesday, June 29 is “Canoeing” at Russell Wildlife Area. Thursday, June 30 is “Camping Basics” at Eveland Access Campground. These events are for ages 11 and up.
