Bengaluru, Sep 7 (IANS): Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom), the government body which is in-charge of the distribution of electricity in the capital city, has washed off its hands of the incident involving the death of the 23-year-old young working woman during the floods, sources said on Wednesday.

According to the sources, Bescom has put the entire blame on G.S. Media Advertisement Agency and stated in its report that the negligence by the advertiser is the sole reason for the electrocution, and that the compnay must pay the compensation.

The public was outraged in Bengaluru over the death of Akhila, a B Com graduate, who was electrocuted while returning home late Monday night. She was on a bike and moving through the inundated stretch of road within the limits of Whitefield police station.

Akhila worked in a private school and was imbalanced while moving on the two-wheeler. She grabbed an electrical pole by the roadside. The electrical cables, which had come out of the pole, caused the electrocution and she succumbed to injuries.

The people have questioned the negligence of Bescom in this regard. The report has been submitted regarding the tragedy to the Managing Director of Bescom. The report says "Bescom is not responsible for the death of a young working woman in the incident of electrocution.

"G.S. Media company should provide compensation to the victim's family and there is no provision for Bescom to provide compensation in this case in any manner.

"During the time of inspection, an assistant engineer attached to Bescom reported that the cable attached to the advertisement board was skinned out and the woman became the victim of electrocution due to this reason.

"Bescom only has power and jurisdiction to supply electricity. The wiring system should be managed by the respective companies who put up advertisement boards. Hence, G.S. Media Company if would have handled the wiring system appropriately, this tragedy would not have taken place," the report says.

However, the public has been in panic after the incident as thousands of electric poles have come under water in the flooded areas. And the people were forced to commute amid inundated roads.

Forget accidental victims, employees of any govt service who have had accident at work are not payed any compensation and condition is so bad that very few lawyers even take these cases.

compensation will be given only saffron party thugs who carry cases on them in police stations...

No washing hands....BESCOM, ADVT. MEDIA and GOVERNMENT all three are responsible equally 100%. All of you give compensation and take an oath in front of god that hence forth they will look after the issues carefully and carry on their duties responsibly and not just heating the chairs so that there wont repeat such incidents henceforth. May the departed soul rest in peace....Condolences to her family/friends...

No one is allowed to question sarkari companies and babus. No respect for human life in India and then expectations of becoming a developed nation soon.

File a case against BESCOM and make them to pay with penalty.

But Bescom has to check respective Advertisement Agency or private companies are using / following standard cabling / safety measures... which are near road side/ footpath/public place.

It is the electric pole of BESCOM and they have lent it to sub company... It is their duty to sign off the works before commissioning of lighting for the sign board including third party/public safety... Our amul baby chanil has not spoken a word about this tragedy... It is a shame on these people in politics when they do not vibe with the hardships of common people... He in his capacity as minister of the department must announce suitable compensation and order a probe about the inspection lapses from the BESCOM... But he will prefer to wait for another BD/VHP blood to drain before opening compensation box...

Who is responsible for floods on Bangalore roads ? Obviously Govt. What ever it is govt misused the tax payers money. We are not asking to give the money from you officials and politicians pocket. Pay compansation from tax payers money.

Bescom blame the Advertising company for skinned out wire. Is the safety device like ELCB or RCCB was installed in the power distribution? If not it, why the power supply connected? If the said safety devices were there in place, power would have cut off. There fore you (BESCOM) is also equally responsible

Passing on the buck because she is an ordinary citizen; the situation would have been different if her death was politically useful!!

When people Vote for double engine no one has the right to question BJP - see the situation in Gujarat who questioned then CM & HM declared as Deshdrohi and landed in jail without bail even lady social worker or IPS officer - no court hearing at all from last 5 years in jail!
