Lowe’s, Home Depot are recalling these breaker boxes due to fire hazard - nj.com

Schneider Electric has recalled 1.4 million electrical panels because of a potential fire hazard. The Square D QO Plug-on-Neutral Load Centers, also known as, load centers, breaker boxes or electrical panels, can overheat and cause thermal burns or fires, according to an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. They were sold at Lowe's, Home Depot and Menard's.

Schneider Electric is recalling 1.4 million breaker boxes, also known as electrical panels, because they might cause a fire hazard.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the panels can overheat, causing thermal burns or fires.

All products were sold from Feb. 2020 through Jan. 2022 between $90 and $1,660.

“The circuit breaker boxes were sold in gray and come in various sizes (square and rectangular). The recalled circuit breaker boxes were manufactured between Feb. 2020 and Jan. 2022, with date codes between 200561 and 220233,” according to the CPSC.

The breaker boxes in question were sold at authorized Schneider Electric distributors, hardware and home improvement stores nationwide.

Some of the home improvement stores that sold the recalled product include Home Depot, Menard’s and Lowe’s.

Schneider Electric is contacting all retailers, distributors, homeowners and anyone else that might have installed or purchased the recalled product.

The company is offering a free inspection and free repair to those who may have installed or purchased the breaker boxes.
