No Gravity Games Is Giving Away 5 Nintendo Switch Games For Free (North America) - Nintendo Life

Update: Second game is now available

Update [Tue 12th July]: Destropolis is currently available for free on the NA Switch eShop if you downloaded yesterday's free title. See below for more details.

As part of its third-anniversary celebrations, publisher No Gravity Games is giving away five Switch games over the next five days.

In order to qualify for the giveaway, you'll need to own a No Gravity title already. If you don't have any of those in your Switch library, you can currently subscribe to the publisher's newsletter via its website and receive a free copy of Pirates: All Aboard! which will help you get started in this free game chain.

If you own any No Gravity game and can keep the chain going over the next five days, you'll be eligible to download the following games for free, starting with Funktronic Labs' Nova-111 today (11th July). Simply head to the eShop, search for the game, and click to download with a 100% owner's discount.

Note: Only the first two free games are announced at this point — we'll update when we know the identities of the later titles.

If you miss a day, you'll have to buy the previous day's game (at a discounted price) to be able to access the next day's free download.

This offer covers North America, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru only — only countries in the Nintendo of America region. Sorry Europe and the rest of the world! However, if you have a Nintendo Account tied to any of those countries, you'll be able to take part and get these games for free.

No Gravity Games ran a similar giveaway last November, but if you missed out that time, now's your chance to bag some free Switch games.

Will you be downloading any or all of these games? Let us know below.

Gavin loves a bit of couch co-op, especially when he gets to delegate roles, bark instructions and give much-appreciated performance feedback at the end. He lives in Spain (the plain-y bit where the rain mainly falls) and his love for Banjo-Kazooie borders on the unhealthy.

I think the reason they give these things away is because nobody would actually buy them.

Are any of these games good?

I got in on their last giveaway, and Destropolis was actually a really cool arcade game. It starts to become more a test of endurance than skill at a certain point, but while you're still unlocking new weapons and power-ups, it's a great time.

I got Nova-111 and I'm pretty sure it's the only one worth getting.

Thank you for giving me these games which I never would had download if not for free.

Destropolis ain’t bad. It has a decent “one more try” feel to it. Not as compelling, as say, Akane. But, a decent little arcade game

Pirates?! Cool! since i did some animation about it that title always tickles me . But nice that they want to give away some games.

Not even for free, plenty of free trash on mobile

Got to climb up that "best sellers" chart?

Pretty sure Destructopolis was given away in their Advent Calendar last year.

Ah, I happen to have one of their games. Nice!

Hey I can’t argue with free plus I do have one of their games (strike force Kitty) so I’m good to go!

So it's virtual dumpster diving.

Last time I got Alder's Blood for free from their giveaway (ignore the mindless 'free so it's bad' goons) , actually a pretty good game. Might be worth getting the other ones in case they give that one away again if you're into SRPGs.

Without knowing what the other 3 games are, it's hard to say if these are good games or not, but the ones from Dec.... some were really really bad, but at the end, there were a couple good ones in Alder's Blood and Golden Force.

@Ryu_Niiyama The quality of their games are all over the place. Creepy Tales, Golden Force, and Connection being on the good side. Their two most acclaimed games, Okinawa Rush and Tanooki Justice aren't included in these free game giveaways.

Nova 111, which I own, is actually a good game.

Will You Snail is on my wishlist and has had an 82% metacritic rating on the XBONE (on my wishlist)

Alder's Blood is a cross between XCOM & Darkest Dungeon (not as good as either tbf) & got an average review score of 74% on the Switch, which is not bad.

Tanuki Justice & Creepy Tale 2 averaged around 70% I think. Possibly REKT as well. Star Horizon was on my wishlist awaiting reviews but barely was reviewed I think so I may have delted it. I would certainly get that and all of the above mentioned for free if available!

Some games there that I own, wishlisted or previously monitored (didn't know who their publisher was tbf, lol)

Had Pirates All Aboard for ages (albeit with limited activity therein since it's more of a local multiplayer title), so I'm in! I sat out their holiday giveaways due to first world reluctance to split too many games among different accounts, but since my main is set to the US now anyway, I'd be remiss not to take the opportunity now.

Snatching Alder's Blood or Wallachia would be especially neat, but I won't be looking these horses in the mouth anyway. It's already ironic how I dutifully moved Nova-111 from my "bygone/region-locked PS Store items to pirate on Vita" list to Switch wishlist after its release here... and in the end I still get to play it for free.😄

@HotGoomba No, no. Remember, No Gravity Games is just the publisher. There job is really to just port the game over to Switch. The games are made by all different people. So the quality varies. I would say Okinawa Rush is their best game, but isn't included in the free giveaways. However it's on sale, and I think there is a demo. Some games that are good and might be included include Creepy Tales and Connection Haunted.

@thinkhector I never said dumpster diving was necessarily bad, it usually has mixed results from what I've heard. Also, no disrespect to any of the developers of the games.

I know most of their games aren't very good, but Destropolis looks like it could be fun, as well as Star Horizon. My kids have already had quite a bit of fun with Rekt, which I got for free previously.

even if they not that good a free game is a free game may as well claim them lol

I did this last time and it was the dumbest stupidest game ever

I got Nova-111 today I almost bought it last time it was on sale good thing I didn't buy it then. I already got Destropolis from one of the last times No Gravity Games had a give away like this.

Almost missed out on Nova-111 here on the NA shop. Just got it now.

Didn't Nintendo forbid this kind of thing a while back?

@Yosher Why would they lol. Free to play crap is fine, how is this worse?

@Yosher No. Yhey just can't get on the eShop's top seller list if their pricing is below $1.99. But companies can still price their games lower (down to free) if they would like to.

@DoomTurtle Ah okay, I wasn't sure what it was. Thanks!

The only game they've done that's close to good is Alder's Blood, and even that one is a test of patience with the RNG wind mechanic.

Tried to redeem Destropolis today, didn't pay attention, got charged for it.. Nintendo has no refund policy, which basically means I'll hold a grudge and never buy No Gravity Games game again.

I don't understand how people can be so salty about games that are being given away for free.

Applies only to America or with a US account, as it is clearly stated.

@Pennilein69 no, I used a US account, and got a free Pirates game before.. just a glitch I guess. That cost me 5$ from my credits

Oh that is bad. But why you bought it when the price is still 5$ instead of 0$??

That must be noticed and several confirmations are needed…

Who is no gravity games?

I have a few games from them but I swear I bought them from QubicGames and not them. now I'm so confused.

"pirates all aboard' is one such game, NintendoLife says QubicGames published, eShop says differently. and I remember differently.

@Pennilein69 well, because it did not say 5$, button said Direct download. And there is only one confirmation screen that I skimmed through (expecting it to be free). It also auto-charged my prepaid credit, so there was no need for credit card info.. It's just reaffirming how these loops you need to hoop through to get a "free" game are bad practice and can result in an unhappy and dissatisfied customer.

You can write to Nintendo Service for refund, but thats a very long way...

Well… I missed out on the first several already… but apparently I already have today’s game (Nonograms Prophecy)… Don’t judge me, I like nonograms/Picross!!

So far Nova 111 is the only thing that wasn't on the advent calendar, but it is a gem! As a successful marriage of both real-time and turn-based puzzling, it is very enjoyable!

Destropolis from before is also a lot of fun!

Free games are always a joy, two more to go!

@Silly_G Games priced under $1.99 are not included on the best sellers list.

These are like that bloatware that comes pre-installed on devices. It's just there and never click it.

@stuntz0rZ and most will do the same on people’s Switches.

@moodycat It's actually a good way to get people to try there games a see if they interest them, then if the consumer does enjoy them they will pay attention to future releases from the dev. Marketing

Today's free game is Star Horizon.
