Schneider Electric is working with Savant Power to develop a new remote control connection relay to help homeowners better manage their home energy use. When connected to a circuit breaker, the relay will provide control of the residential electrical load, including configuration to maximize backup power in the event of a power outage.

By creating a virtual configurable critical load panel for each backup power source (solar, battery, etc.), the available power can be automatically maximized by sending only the available power to the priority circuit until the utility power is restored. The new solution will be launched in the first quarter of 2022

When connected to the QO Plug-On Neutral circuit breaker, the newly connected relay will provide monitoring and control of the homeowner's electrical load, including the configuration of maximizing backup power in the event of a power outage.

The connected relay device will enable homeowners to view, monitor and control their home energy at the individual circuit level, all from the Schneider Electric Wiser Energy app. With a more detailed insight into family activities, homeowners will be able to take action from anywhere with a richer automated experience. The relay will optimize the backup power capacity, especially to provide homeowners with flexibility when navigation is interrupted.

"As household energy use continues to increase, management needs are more important than ever for potential home buyers. In turn, builders have the opportunity to increase the value of new buildings by providing energy management technology," Vice President Richard Korthauer Say, home and distribution, Schneider Electric. "The use of this technology in the construction phase provides a new step for load level control to differentiate new houses, minimize the energy costs of homeowners in this dynamic energy market, and provide new energy flexibility at the circuit breaker level And safety level."

"We are very happy to work with Schneider Electric to bring sustainability and efficiency to every homeowner through smart load management," said Robert Madonna, CEO of Savant Systems Inc. The pillars of the home, including climate, lighting, entertainment, security and now energy-all of which are driven by our award-winning software platform. "

The new Schneider Electric connection relay will allow homeowners to monitor and control their energy at the circuit level, including electric water heaters, ovens, HVAC systems or any other circuits. For example, if the homeowner is worried about turning the oven on after they leave the house, this will allow them to inspect and then remotely turn off the device on the circuit, thus preventing a potentially dangerous situation.

These relays will also help optimize non-utility household energy sources—including solar, energy storage, and generators—in the event of a power outage.

By creating a virtual configurable critical load panel for each backup power source, the available power can be maximized by sending the available power to only a few priority circuits until the utility power is restored. These configurations are automated through the Wiser Energy app, providing true smart energy management for today's homeowners.
