News release – The Downtown Barrie BIA
Open Air Dunlop takes place in Downtown Barrie this Saturday, as week 6 of the event is filled with entertainment and activities for all.
A branch of Barrie Families Unite, a local not-for-profit organization, will be set up to promote keeping Barrie beautiful and garbage free.
Last year, their volunteers cleaned up over 230 bags of garbage in over 30 locations. This year the group received a grant from The Great Outdoors Fund and UnSmoke Canada for litter clean-ups, targeting cigarette butts – the number one most littered item in the world.
They will be at Open Air Dunlop giving away prizes and clean-up kits to encourage residents to clean up Dunlop and the surrounding area of cigarette butts.
Visitors can catch Baraket Kezwer and Monica Loney working on our Maple Street Mural between 9:00 a.m., and 4:00 p.m.
Urban Sketching with Spare Room will be hosted by Emily Lemen, whose work you can currently find on display at Bohemia.
Drop by Meridian Place between 9:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. All materials provided.
With Nook Yoga from 10:00 a.m., till 11:00 a.m. Bring your mat.
Join us on Dunlop St. to watch Bill and Yoshi make their way through Barrie and onto their next city.
Led by a bagpiper, Bill and Yoshi will depart the Barrie Farmers Market at 11:45 and head towards Dunlop St. down Mulcaster St. shortly after.

Setup will be near Mexhico Restaurant in the west end, from 12:00 p.m., till 4:00 p.m.
