Executive Director of the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) Fabby Tumiwa assessed that PT PLN (Persero)'s plan to use a special Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) so that people's electrical power does not need to be increased when using an electric stove can indeed be implemented. However, he considered this step ineffective and inefficient."Yes, it's possible (using a special MBC). It's just a matter of making the path and using a special meter. But what for? It's not effective and creates a new installation burden," said Fabby to CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (21/9).According to him, it is better to increase the electric power to 2,200 VA if you want to use an electric stove. Then, the customer ID is marked according to the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) and remains subsidized.Fabby suggested that the government provide a subsidized electricity quota by taking into account normal consumption plus additional consumption from the use of electric stoves so that unproductive use of electricity can be prevented. He gave an example of the use of 900 VA electricity which was divided into two types in 2016. Electricity was divided for the poor and non-poor based on DTKS.Poor 900 VA customers are subject to a subsidy rate of Rp. 605 per kWh and non-poor to Rp. 1300 per kWh."Experience with two tariffs of 900 VA shows that special rates are possible," he said.Previously, the President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, said that the public's electric power did not need to be increased when using an electric stove. He said the use of electric stoves will be carried out with a special connection so that household electricity consumption and electric stove consumption will be distinguished."For induction stoves, we use a special line MCB, not connected to the old tariff class electricity consumption pattern. This is what distinguishes induction stoves from household consumption," said Darmawan in a Hearing Meeting with Commission VII DPR, Wednesday (14/9), as quoted from Detik.Meanwhile, the Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana said PLN would increase the public's electric power so that they could use electric stoves when converting to 3 kg LPG.However, he did not explain the details of the amount of electric power that will be increased."Yes (the power is increased) at the same time so that the stove can be operated. The additional power is carried out by PLN," said Dadan to CNNIndonesia.com.The government will convert 3 kg LPG to electric stoves.Previously, Dadan said the government would replace the customer's electric meter MCB with a power of 450 VA so that they could use a 1,000 watt electric stove when converting to 3 kg LPG."Later, the MCB will be replaced with 3,500 watts for the 450 (VA)," said Dadan.
